We’re on the brink of one of the most consequential midterm elections in recent history, and the latest polling averages from FiftyPlusOne are pointing to potentially significant gains for Democrats.
On this episode of Clock It with Symone and Eugene, Symone and Eugene break down the latest polling, share what they saw and heard on the ground in Michigan and Mississippi, and explore why polls are never a substitute for showing up and voting.
They’re joined by pollster and data journalist G. Elliott Morris, co-founder of FiftyPlusOne, to take a deeper dive into the numbers, what a “blue wave” or even a “blue tsunami” could look like, and why Republicans may be counting on polling error to break their way. Symone and Eugene also ask Morris about how FiftyPlusOne ensures the veracity of their reporting, as well as breaking the news about the fake Wedgewood polls that made it into national political coverage, including on MS NOW.
Plus, the trio shares their personal Election Day rituals and the traditions they turn to as the votes are counted.
And, as always, Symone and Eugene are clocking the culture, too—from Symone’s experience at a Jay-Z concert in Los Angeles to Eugene’s take on the Elizabeth Holmes film—and unpacking how pop culture shapes the political conversation.
