Jay Goldberg of Seaport Research Partners wrote the first analyst note on Anthropic ahead of what could be the largest IPO ever. He tells Jared Blikre he is not putting a rating on it yet, and he is blunt about why: there is no stock price, the S-1 is preliminary with significant blanks in it, and he wants to hear management on the road show first. He also explains why the company warned it will be profitable for a quarter or two and then return to losses, and why so much of Amazon’s AI revenue circling back from its own customer makes the cloud relationship, in the filing’s words, multifaceted and complex.
