Election Day CHAOS! Machines Fail In Critical House Battleground
Election Day erupted into chaos across Westchester County, New York, when ballot scanners at polling locations throughout the county began rejecting paper ballots.
Officials initially blamed the problem on ballots that were too thick for the machines to process. That explanation was later removed, with the Board of Elections reverting to a broader statement saying an issue involving the paper ballots was preventing scanners from accepting them. The exact cause remains unresolved in the latest reliable reporting.
Voters were still allowed to complete normal paper ballots. Those that could not be scanned were placed into secured and monitored orange emergency ballot bags for transportation to the Board of Elections.
News 12 reports that the emergency ballots will be counted first, before ballots already accepted by the scanners, and can be hand-counted if necessary.
This matters because Westchester contains roughly 30 percent of New York’s fiercely contested 17th Congressional District, where Republican Mike Lawler is facing Democrat Cait Conley. A countywide scanner failure could delay the result in one of the country’s most important House races.
There is currently no verified evidence that machines altered votes, rejected one party’s ballots, lost ballots or were intentionally sabotaged. Fraud has not been established.
But a countywide failure on Election Day—followed by officials changing their explanation—demands immediate transparency about the cause, chain of custody and counting process.
We break down what failed, what officials first said, why that explanation disappeared and what happens to every ballot sitting inside those emergency bags.
