House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries told CNBC that Democrats do not have a list of companies that they plan to investigate or subpoena.
“We’ll have those conversations over the next couple of weeks,” Jeffries, who is poised to become Speaker of the House in January, said Wednesday. “But clearly, things aren’t going right for the American people. Capitalism is broken in the way in which it is being experienced by so many working-class Americans and middle-class Americans.”
“We’ve got to make sure we build an economy, a free-market economy, that works for everyday Americans,” he said.
Democrats scored a seismic victory in the midterm elections, flipping both chambers of Congress from Republican control and setting the stage to challenge President Donald Trump’s policy priorities from a position of strength.
