On July 27, Secret Service agents allegedly disabled a security camera and unlawfully entered a hair salon in Massachusetts during security preparations for Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign event. The incident took place at the Four One Three Salon, located behind the Colonial Theatre in the Berkshires, where Harris was scheduled to speak.
Secret Service batting a 1000 at this point.

Alicia Powers, the owner of Four One Three Salon, stated that she closed her business at the request of the Secret Service, which had conducted a security sweep earlier in the week. The agents, responsible for securing the Vice President’s visit, had requested the closure as part of their preparations. Powers agreed to the request but later found the situation to be more chaotic than expected, leading her to shut down the salon for the day.
Despite assurances from a Secret Service spokesperson that agents would not enter the salon without permission, surveillance footage captured a different story. At around 8:10 AM, a Secret Service agent, dressed in a dark suit and lacking any visible identification, was seen approaching the salon with a roll of masking tape. The footage shows the agent using a chair to reach the security camera and then covering its lens with tape, effectively disabling the camera’s view.
I know exactly where this is and the area a VERY low risk environment for any democrat if that matters for the story…

Further footage from an internal camera revealed that four individuals, including two in emergency medical uniforms and one in camouflage, entered the salon over the course of nearly two hours. During this time, the salon’s security alarm blared continuously, yet no one seemed to intervene. Powers later discovered that the individuals had used the salon’s bathroom and left the premises unlocked, without ever seeking her permission to enter.
Powers expressed deep frustration and a sense of violation after the incident. She discovered signs of forced entry on the salon’s door lock and found the bathroom left in disarray. Powers noted that she would have been more than willing to accommodate the agents had they simply asked for permission. Instead, she felt that the agents had disrespected her property by entering without authorization and leaving it unsecured.

After Business Insider inquired about the incident, the head of the Secret Service’s Boston field office contacted Powers to apologize. The official admitted that the agents acted improperly by taping the camera and entering the building without permission. As part of the apology, the Secret Service offered to cover the costs of cleaning the salon and the bill for the alarm company. The agent also suggested meeting with Powers in person, an offer she accepted, expressing a desire to show the agent her salon and explain how the situation could have been handled differently.
