The WHO has warned that climate change-induced flooding is causing a rise in snake bites, which kill tens of thousands of people annually. Sub-Saharan Africa reports around 314,000 snake bite cases per year, with 15,000 deaths, but faces a critical shortage of treatments. The WHO is increasing the availability of antivenoms in the most affected regions. The WHO’s David Williams joined Eye on Africa to talk about the problem and what can be done to address it.
