After months of negotiations, Israel and Hamas have agreed on the terms of a ceasefire that could end the war in Gaza. Even though mediators have confirmed the deal, which is due to take effect on Sunday, Israel’s government has yet to ratify it. It says final details are still being worked out. If the deal is implemented, the ceasefire should lead to the release of dozens of hostages held by Hamas, as well as hundreds of Palestinians detained in Israeli jails. That prospect has been welcomed by Palestinians and Israelis. But what does the ceasefire deal mean for the future of Hamas?
