Muslims gathered in New York’s Times Square on Sunday night to break their fast, pray, and celebrate the beginning of Ramadan.
Worshippers told TRT World that the gathering aimed to challenge stereotypes about Islam in the US.
After fasting from dawn to sunset, worshippers came together for Iftar, the evening meal, followed by Isha (night prayer) and Tarawih, a special nightly prayer observed during the holy month of Ramadan.
