South Korea’s impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol has been released from prison after a court accepted a request from his lawyers to cancel his arrest. Yoon was arrested in January in connection with his attempt in December 2024 to impose martial law, which investigators say amounted to rebellion. Yoon’s lawyers argued he should be released while the investigation continues, because the indictment process was taking too long.
