Lessons:
1. Job was a godly man as described by God (1:1).
2. Job was wealthy, had a large family, and they were close (1:2-4).
3. Job was a praying dad who went before God on behalf of his kids (1:5).
4. Satan is an adversary to God and to us, who can accuse us before God (1:6).
5. Satan is mobile, but not omnipresent (1:7).
6. God testifies to Satan about Job because God knew Job, watched Job, and presents him as an example to Satan (1:8).
7. Satan attributes Job’s godly life to the prosperity God allows him. Job has a “hedge” about him, so Satan is also not omnipotent. He is thwarted by God’s plan (1:9-10).
8. Satan thought Job would abandon God if he lost his health and prosperity, so he’s not omniscient (1:11).
9. God allowed Satan’s attacks, but God always limits them (1:12; 2:6).
10. Satan can move people and armies to harm other people (1:15).
11. Satan can send down lightning/fire (1:16).
12. Satan can send tornadoes (1:19).
13. Job bowed before God as Sovereign Lord and worshipped (1:20).
14. Job affirmed God as good and the source of all blessings (1:21). But in spiritual warfare like Job faced: wealth, character, and godliness do NOT prevent it.
15. God was glorified by Job’s response to attacks (2:3).
16. Satan can inflict disease and health problems (2:7).
17. Job’s great question: accept good but not bad from the Lord? (2:10)
