Commemorations of victory in the Battle of Manzikert have taken place in eastern Türkiye. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has spent the past two days attending ceremonies in Bitlis and Mus, linking the Seljuk Turks’ victory of 1071 to his vision for Türkiye’s future.
