Talks between Russia, Ukraine and the US have begun in Abu Dhabi. It’s the first time officials from Russia, Ukraine and the US are known to have met face-to-face for negotiations since Moscow’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
The talks are taking place after US envoy Steve Witkoff and Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner traveled to Moscow, where they spoke with Russian leader Vladimir Putin. A Kremlin official describedthose talks as useful. But Moscow has since repeated its demand that Ukraine hand over territory in the eastern Donbas region that’s still controlled by Kyiv.
