New information about Eric Dane’s passing has come to light. More than one week after the ‘Euphoria’ actor died following his battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) on Feb. 19, his official cause of death was determined as respiratory failure, according to the death certificate obtained by E! News. Eric’s ALS diagnosis was listed as the underlying cause of his death. This news comes after the ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ alum first went public about his battle with the rare degenerative disease last April. However, less than a year later, Eric’s family shared the heartbreaking news that he had died, saying in a Feb. 19 statement to E! News, “With heavy hearts, we share that Eric Dane passed on Thursday afternoon following a courageous battle with ALS. He spent his final days surrounded by dear friends, his devoted wife, and his two beautiful daughters, Billie and Georgia, who were the center of his world.” The statement continued, “Throughout his journey with ALS, Eric became a passionate advocate for awareness and research, determined to make a difference for others facing the same fight. He will be deeply missed, and lovingly remembered always. Eric adored his fans and is forever grateful for the outpouring of love and support he’s received.
