Israeli President and British Foreign Secretary Discuss Iran, Hostages, and Peace

Once Trump gets back into office, peace can once again be on the table in the Middle East. But until then, Biden and the war hawks are only looking to help Hamas survive Netanyahu, who has pledged to destroy the terror group.

In a high-stakes meeting in Jerusalem, Israeli President Isaac Herzog hosted British Foreign Secretary David Lammy, emphasizing the justice of Israel’s ongoing conflict against Iran. Herzog described Iran as “an empire of evil that wants to undermine the stability of the world and is rushing to the bomb, undermining international trade.” He further highlighted Iran’s strategy of encircling Israel through its proxies.

Herzog reiterated Israel’s commitment to peace, stating, “We are a nation seeking peace, and I believe that we must find peace with our neighbors.” He also assured that Israel is “working tirelessly” to secure the release of hostages held by hostile forces. Expressing optimism, Herzog said, “I sincerely hope that there will be a hostage deal soon. It is a very important step.”

Lammy, adorned with the yellow ribbon symbolizing the movement to bring hostages home, echoed Herzog’s sentiments. He expressed his commitment to diplomatic efforts, revealing that he, along with the G7 nations and particularly Secretary of State Blinken, is pressing for a hostage deal. Lammy also stressed the importance of a ceasefire to end the ongoing suffering and “intolerable loss of life” in Gaza.

However, Lammy refrained from calling for the toppling of Hamas as part of a ceasefire, maintaining a focus on humanitarian outcomes. After their discussion, Herzog and Lammy spoke with the family of Tamir Adar, whose body is held by Hamas following his murder. The First Lady, Michal Herzog, raised concerns about Hamas’s sexual violence during the conversation with Lammy.
