Footage verified by Storyful shows crowds celebrating in the streets of Budapest as Hungary’s opposition, led by Peter Magyar, delivered a seismic election victory, ending Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s 16 years in power.
With 98 percent of votes counted, Magyar’s Tisza party had secured 138 seats, with Orban’s Fidesz on 55 and the far-right Our Homeland on six.
Magyar stood on a platform of distancing Hungary from Russia in favor of more cordial ties with the EU and Ukraine.
