“Americans and legal residents continue to be detained for practicing their constitutional rights in this country”
Several organisations gathered outside the US Supreme Court to demand the immediate release of Salah Sarsour, a Palestinian community leader who has lived in the US for more than 30 years and was detained by ICE on March 30.
They told TRT World that Sarsour — who leads one of the largest mosques in the US — is being targeted for his “pro-Palestine advocacy”.
They added that, as in the cases of Mahmoud Khalil, Leqaa Kordia, and Mohsen Mahdawi, the US government is “violating his First Amendment rights.”
