Mourners gathered in Lebanon to bid farewell to Amal Khalil, a journalist killed by an Israeli strike a day prior.
Placing a press helmet on the coffin, relatives and friends paid their respects to the 43-year-old reporter, remembering her work ethics and her enthusiasm.
On Thursday, Lebanon’s permanent representative to the UN in Geneva has urged the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk to intervene on Israel’s systemic killing of 28 Lebanese journalists since 2023, the Lebanese National News Agency (NNA) reported on Thursday.
“Israeli military actions have resulted in the deaths of 28 Lebanese journalists, including correspondents, photojournalists, and cameramen, without any accountability to date,” Ambassador Caroline Ziadeh said.
