Six activists were arrested Wednesday after staging a protest outside Congress demanding the release of Palestinian detainees, who are often cruelly mistreated in Israeli dungeons.
In a powerful act of civil disobedience to mark Eid, the group knelt in a stress position, reenacting the treatment that members of the Global Sumud Flotilla endured in Israel.
In recent days, the pose has become a global symbol of Israel’s repeated crimes. Similar demonstrations have taken place inside Australia’s Parliament and in Belgium, the Netherlands, and Sweden, to demand an end to Tel Aviv’s total impunity.
Local police chose to hold the group overnight and filed multiple charges, including “resisting arrest,” although TRT World footage of the peaceful protest showed no apparent resistance from demonstrators
