Ariana Grande is taking a break.
In a statement to ET, the singer’s rep says, “Ariana will be taking a step back from visibility after she completes the Eternal Sunshine Tour.” Ariana has 13 remaining shows on the tour, which ends Sept. 1 in London.
“She looks forward to finishing the tour and ending it on a high note, both healthily and happily, and then taking a much-deserved break from public-facing work and appearances, which has led to endless, ongoing public scrutiny. This tour has been a beautiful experience for her. She loves her fans and has loved every minute of this tour so much.“
There has been an increase in online discourse around the ‘Wicked’ star’s physical appearance since she kicked off her tour earlier this summer, with some fans expressing concern for her health and well-being. The discussion reignited over the weekend following the release of the music video for “petal,” the second single from her new album of the same name.
The break also means Ariana will no longer star in the West End revival of Stephen Sondheim’s ‘Sunday in the Park With George,’ which was scheduled to open next summer. ET has learned Ariana can’t wait to support the brilliant team bringing that project to life.
