Iran has released rare video footage of Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei alive, after reports suggested that he was disfigured and critically injured in US-Israeli strikes.
Iran reported on Sunday that Mojtaba met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, who is beginning his third year in office.
Mojtaba was selected as Iran’s supreme leader in early March after his father, Ali Khamenei, was killed in a US-Israeli airstrike on February 28. He has not been seen in public since his selection.
Khamenei’s face was “disfigured” in the attack on the Supreme Leader’s compound in central Tehran, and “he suffered a significant injury to one or both legs”, Reuters reported in April.
In July, US President Donald Trump said that Mojtaba Khamenei was “90 percent gone” because of his injuries during an interview with Fox News.
