Peru continues to suffer the effects after days of torrential rains that began on August 14 led to a state of emergency being declared in capital Lima and other regions. The heavy downpours led to landslides, severe flooding and collapsing of essential infrastructure. Many people in low laying areas suffered significant damage to their homes after major rivers overflowed. Authorities continue to work alongside charity organisations to facilitate rescue missions and aid.
