Rep. Greg Casar, chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, discusses legislation he is proposing with Sen. Bernie Sanders that would permanently ban artificial superintelligence, temporarily pause advanced AI development, and establish a new federal AI regulator. Casar says companies should be barred from pursuing artificial superintelligence, while research on AI that is safe and beneficial could continue.
