Zohran Mamdani attended an October 7 candlelight vigil—and was immediately targeted by more than 100 anti-Israel protesters who called him a traitor and accused him of selling out. The crowd reportedly attempted to drown out the vigil while chanting that Mamdani’s “hands are red.”
Mamdani condemned Hamas’ October 7 attack as a horrific war crime while continuing to describe Israel’s military response as genocide. That was not enough for the activists now accusing him of betrayal. Mamdani built his political identity around this movement, and now its most radical supporters appear ready to turn on him.
