The government has pledged to fast-track hate crime prosecutions following a series of recent attacks on the Jewish community, alongside new measures aimed at tackling antisemitism across society.
Speaking to Sky News, Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ed Davey said: “We now really need to act. We’ve had too many warnings, too many attacks on synagogues, too much hatred being spread.”
When asked whether pro-Palestinian marches should be banned, he added: “I leave those decisions to the police on a case-by-case basis."
He adds, “of course, we must protect freedom of speech and the right to protest. But some of these marches have been hijacked by people preaching hate.”
